Helping Patients Stay Strong —
Even When Recovery Isn’t the Goal

Medicare-Covered Maintenance Physical Therapy for Neurological Conditions

You Don’t Have to Be “Getting Better” to Keep Moving

At In-House Home Health, we provide maintenance physical therapy to help patients with neurological conditions maintain strength, mobility, and independence — even when full recovery is not expected.

This is not traditional rehab. It’s a Medicare-covered service designed to help prevent decline, reduce falls, and support quality of life for patients living with:

  • Parkinson’s disease

  • Stroke (CVA) or post-stroke deficits

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • ALS (early to mid-stage)

  • Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias

  • Chronic gait and balance disorders

  • Neuropathy with fall risk

  • Other chronic neurological conditions

  • Functional plateau but continued skilled need

What Is Maintenance Therapy?

Maintenance therapy is skilled physical therapy provided when a patient is no longer making functional gains but still requires a skilled clinician to prevent deterioration or loss of function.

Medicare covers this care under the Jimmo v. Sebelius ruling — recovery is not a requirement for continued therapy services.

Know Someone Who May Qualify?

Patients may be eligible for maintenance PT if they:

  • Are homebound and under the care of a physician

  • Have a diagnosed neurological or neurodegenerative condition

  • Are at risk of functional decline without skilled intervention

  • Have reached a plateau in recovery, but still benefit from therapy oversight
